Amid the ongoing nationwide lockdown due to the Coronavirus pandemic, RSS workers have come forward to help India in its fight against COVID-19. journalist Barkha Dutt has showered praises on RSS workers for helping migrant workers in the time of crisis.

Barkha Dutt said that To lend a helping hand, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers came forward to conduct screening in the slums of Nehru Nagar Basti in Mumbai which is a red zone and virus hotspot area. They are putting their lives at risk and conducting screening in the time of crisis.

RSS workers were trained by expert doctors of various leading hospitals on the use of PPE, infrared thermometers, etc. In the mass screening, RSS workers are finding people who show symptoms of COVID-19 and send them to doctors for further tests. This seva work of Sangh is just a helping hand to the government functionaries to make the Mumbai city corona free.

Dutt said that RSS volunteers are playing a crucial role in this hard time and these real heroes have emerged as saviours for the daily wagers and homeless people. The selfless people, who, without even caring for their own life, sprung into action to give a helping hand to the sufferers.

As a journalist, fearlessness has always been Barkha Dutt’s defining trait, be it stepping inside an army bunker during a ‘live’ situation or courting controversies.

Much like her reportage which either generates fulsome praise or angry remonstration but never goes unnoticed, Dutt is a polarizing figure in Indian journalism.

Thousands of Swayamsevaks are also helping to ensure that no one will go hungry. They are distributing food packets and bread packets to the poor. Dutt appreciated them for distributing ration during the shutdown. For the first time, she praised the Sangh for helping the nation amid lockdown.

It has been learnt that more than one lakh RSS volunteers are working at over ten thousand places in the country, supplying food, helping at hospitals. Volunteers are also participating in blood donation camps and providing food to healthcare workers and security personnel.
