Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian cricketer who is known as one of the best T20 cricketers of present times is currently in UK as the Indian cricket team will be playing the final match of the World Test Championship against Australia starting from 7 June 2023.
We have often heard Suryakumar Yadav being called SKY and recently he revealed how he got this nickname. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has posted a video clip on its official Twitter handle in which Surya was asked some questions in the rapid-fire round by the media team and you will be surprised to know that there is a Gautam Gambhir connection in regard to his nickname.
Suryakumar Yadav said that in 2014/15 when he was playing for the IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders, the skipper Gautam Gambhir gave him this name as Suryakumar Yadav was too long to call for everyone.
SKY was also asked about his favourite city and in response, he said London while on the question of his favourite ground in UK, he said that it is Lord’s as it has a beautiful history.
Here is the video clip which has been captioned as, “The origin of nickname ‘SKY’ , Favourite city in the UK, Favourite English breakfast, This and a lot-more in Rapid-Fire with @surya_14kumar – By @RajalArora”
Suryakumar Yadav was out of form in the first half of the IPL 2023 because of which his team Mumbai Indians had to face more defeats than win. Though SKY played some good knocks in the second half and his team also managed to enter the play-offs yet Mumbai Indians lost the second qualifier to Gujarat Titans and got knocked out of the tournament.
