Fit India Movement Live, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the ‘Fit India Campaign’ at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in Delhi. It has been launched on the occasion of Sports Day. After launching the campaign, PM Modi said in the program that on this day we had met great players in the form of Major Dhyanchand. Today, the country is bowing to him. Through this campaign, the country has made an important step towards healthy India.

The need to make the campaign a mass movement,

PM Modi said that it is the need of the country that this campaign should be made a mass movement. This will encourage the young players who are illuminating the name of the country in the game. He said that our government has taken many steps to improve sports life. He said that fitness is not just a word, but a necessary condition for living a healthy life.

Fitness is an integral part of our life,

PM said that the fund of staying healthy and fit has been going on since the time of our ancestors. During this, he recited Sanskrit verses and explained the benefits of fitness. He said that fitness has been an integral part of our life, there has been indifference in society over time.

Fitness is not a word, but it is a necessary condition for a healthy life. PM Modi said during this period that fitness is not a word but a necessary condition of a healthy and prosperous life. He said that be it Badminton, Tennis, Athletics, Boxing, our players are giving new wings to our hopes and aspirations in other sports including wrestling.

Walking has reduced over time, during this time PM Modi said, ‘How has the time changed,’ I give you an example of that. Until a few decades ago a normal person walked about 8–10 km a day. After this, technology gradually changed, modern means came and walking reduced. PM Modi said that every citizen of the new India should be fit, to move in this direction.

He is accompanied by Indira Gandhi Stadium Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju. Apart from these, there are many celebrities including Bharatiya Janata Party MP Gautam Gambhir, Manoj Tiwari, actress Shilpa Shetty.

Under this campaign, every college and university will also have to prepare a 15-day fitness plan. Apart from this, he has to upload this plan on his portal or website. The objective of this campaign is to make people aware of health in the country. The government wants to pursue this campaign on the lines of the cleanliness campaign. It is worth noting that on August 29, every year in the country, the birthday of hockey magician Major Dhyanchand is celebrated as Sports Day.

Getting tremendous support

Earlier, Union Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju tweeted, “There is tremendous support coming from all sections of society to participate in the Fit India Movement launched by PM Narendra Modi on 29 August”. Chief ministers, corporates and many icons have taken great steps to make the event a success.

In the Mann Ki Baat, PM Modi had mentioned that in the address of Mann Ki Baat on Sunday, PM Modi had asked people to participate in the Fit India Movement to be held today. He said that the purpose of this nationwide campaign is to encourage people towards physical activities and sports. The University Grant Commission had issued a letter to inform the universities for the preparation of the Fit India Movement to be held on 29 August.

A committee was also formed for advice, a committee was also formed to advise the government on the Fit India movement. This included the Olympic Association (IOA), National Sports Association (NSF), government officials, private bodies and renowned fitness personalities. Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju was the chairman of this 28-member committee.

Many Ministries will work together

To make this campaign successful, many Ministries of Central Government will work together. These are the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development. All are designing programs at their respective levels.
