Natural remedies to kill Cockroaches in home

natural remedies Cockroaches

From spreading diseases to evoking fear, having cockroaches at home is no less than a nightmare. While it does take professional treatment to chase these creatures away, there are many natural and home remedies that you can put to use to minimize their presence. These are ingredients that you can easily source from your kitchen and use readily.

Baking soda

Baking soda is an effective and instant remedy that repels roaches away. Wondering how it works? Well, all you need to do is place some diced onions at all the areas/cracks/holes from where the cockroaches may enter and sprinkle them with baking soda. When they consume baking soda, their stomach produces gases that cause their organs to burst.

Boric acid

Boric acid is another easily available ingredient that can kill cockroaches in a jiffy. When they come in contact with this acid, it sticks to their limbs and wings, trapping them or lowering their activity. And when they consume it, it messes up their digestive and nervous systems and kills them eventually.

Neem

Neem can keep cockroaches out of your home, for it features some strong potent properties that can kill young cockroaches and inhibit the adults from laying eggs. If you are using neem oil, ensure that you mix it with water and use it as a spray. However, if you are using neem powder, simply sprinkle it in all areas where these pests may enter.

Peppermint oil

Peppermint oil has insect-repellent properties and various studies have exhibited its effectiveness in keeping roaches at bay. For this to work, simply add a few drops of this potent oil in salt water and spray it at all possible cockroach-infested areas. However, this won’t work overnight as you have to apply it for two weeks to witness a change.

Bay leaves

First things first, bay leaves won’t kill cockroaches (altruists, rejoice!) but will force them to come out of their holes where they may hide in your home. They hate the strong scent of this spice, which comes in handy to show them the exit door. Crush some bay leaves and sprinkle on the infested areas or boil them, prepare a spray, and apply.
