Having discontinued a few of its motorcycles come BS-VI era, Yamaha is all set to introduce new motorcycles in the Indian market, which, of course, will be compliant with the newly enforced emission standards.
As it seems, Yamaha won’t be bringing back any discontinued motorcycles later – which is something every manufacturer is practicing these days. So, what we have here is a list of brand-new fresh out-of-the-box offerings from Yamaha that are expected to hit the market real soon.
However, before we begin, do note that this is a dynamic list, which means the bikes shown here might just not make it to the Indian market after all. So, with that out of the way, here’s a list of all the upcoming Yamaha models in the near future. Read on.
1. Yamaha XSR155
Based on the MT-15, the Yamaha XSR155 is a retro-styled motorcycle, which was recently unveiled in Thailand. By the looks of it, the XSR155 follows Yamaha’s ‘Sport Heritage’ design similar to the XSR 700 and XSR 900 that are available in international markets. The major design highlights include a tear-drop shaped tank, a round full-LED headlamp and full-LED tail lamp along a single-piece seat, which, also add to its retro-appeal. As its name implies, the XSR155 is expected to be powered by the same engine that propels in the MT-15 and YZF R15 V3, which is a 155cc unit capable producing 19bhp and 14.7Nm of torque. Expect Yamaha to launch the ZSR155 towards the end of this year at a small premium over the MT-15.
2. Yamaha MT-03
The Yamaha MT-03 is the bigger brother of the MT-15. Therefore, it features the same streetfighter stance as its smaller sibling, but now it comes powered by a larger engine. It is, essentially, the streetfighter version of YZF-R3 Supersport motorcycle and is the fourth model in the MT range. On the powertrain front, the MT-03 gets a 321cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which delivers 35bhp and 22Nm of torque. Expect it around the end of the year as well.
3. Yamaha XSR300
Joining the XSR155 in the retro-themed motorcycle range from Yamaha will be its bigger sibling, the XSR300. As is a norm with bigger siblings, the XSR300 is expected to feature a sharper design language, replete with retro-styled fuel-tank and petite tail section with a round tail lamp, and, of course, its instrument cluster. As its name implies, the bike will be powered by a 321cc parallel-twin motor thatproduces 40.8bhp and 29.6Nm of torque. We expect Yamaha to launch the XSR300 in the Indian market around December 2020.
4. Yamaha MT-07
The Yamaha MT-07 is yet another motorcycle in the MT line-up. It, too, features the same streetfighter stance as its smaller siblings, but now it comes powered by an even larger engine. It is a 689cc parallel-twin motor with a crossplane crankshaft. Moreover, it comes mated to a slick six-speed gearbox. Just like its other siblings, the MT-07 gets a very aggressive design, replete with an exposed engine, aggressive stance and pocket-rocket performance. It is expected to hit our shores early next year.
5. Yamaha Tenere 700
Unlike the others mentioned above, the Tenere 700 is an adventure motorcycle from Yamaha, which is expected to arrive in the Indian market by the end of 2020. It features a very interesting design language, with a quad-LED headlamp, racing blue for the few bits of bodywork, and off-road bits. It is expected to be powered by a 689cc, parallel-twin motor which produces 72.4bhp and 68Nm of torque. Also, grab the latest info on the upcoming bikes, only at autoX.
