New Delhi: August 5, 2019: Prominent Social Activist, Jitender Singh Shunty, Founder of the NGO, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal (SBS FOUNDATION) and Ex-MLA from Shahdara, Delhi, will be conferred with the ‘World Record’ by the prestigious World Book of Records, United Kingdom, on being included in the Record Book for becoming the first Sikh and first Politician in the World to have donated Whole Blood for 100 Times. The World Book of Records’ Representatives and Shunty, made the official announcement of the same while addressing the Press at a Media Briefing in Hotel Le-Meridien, New Delhi, this afternoon, in the due presence of the Chief Guests of the occasion, Sh. Manoj Tiwari (President, BJP Delhi State & MP, Lok Sabha), Sh. Shyam Jaju (National Vice President, BJP), Sh. Vijay Goel (MP, Rajya Sabha), & S. Tarlochan Singh (Former Chairman, Minority Commission of India). The Guests of Honour at the event were, S. Manjinder Singh Sirsa (President, DSGMC & MLA, Delhi) & S. Harmeet Singh Kalka (General Secretary, DSGMC & Ex-MLA, Delhi). All the Honorable Guests Felicitated and applauded Shunty for his humanitarian efforts and encouraged him to keep serving the mankind. Jitender Singh Shunty announced that he will soon be receiving the much Prestigious World Record Certificate, as per his official discussion with the World Book of Records Officials and for which he was handed over a Confirmation Letter & Provisional Letter today by Ms. Tithi Bhalla & Mr. Ravikant Sharma from the World Book of Records, who confirmed Shunty’s successful World Record attempt. The event was chaired by the President of the NGO, Sh. Hanuman Lakhotia and Smt. Manjeet Kaur Shunty (NGO President, Women’s Wing).
Earlier in June this year, Shunty was awarded the Centurion Award and Title of Donor Singh by The National Blood Transfusion Council (Government of India) & Delhi State Blood Transfusion Council (Govt. of NCT of Delhi). Shunty set the World Record on 18th June this year in due presence of Parliamentarian and Former Cricketer Sh. Gautam Gambhir who was present to witness the History being made. Thereafter, Shunty was invited by many Central Ministers in Government of India, Indian Parliamentarians and Dignitaries, like Dr. Harshavardhan, Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan, Sh. Ram Vilas Paswan, Biba Harsimrat Kaur Badal, S. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Sh. Gautam Gambhir, Sh. Mahesh Sharma, Sh. Parvesh Sahib Singh, Sh. Hans Raj Hans, Veteran Leader Sh. L.K Advani, Sh. Anurag Thakur, Sh. J.P Nadda, Sh. Som Prakash, Sh. V.K Malhotra, Singer Daler Mehndi, Singer Ashok Mastie and many other prominent personalities including the present Chief Guests and Guests of Honours of the event held today, who honored & congratulated Shunty for his noble and amazing accomplishment and also took up to their Social Media to highlight Shunty’s 100 Times Blood Donation achievement with a hashtag #DonorSingh, a title achieved by Shunty after 37+ long years of his hardwork, dedication and passion towards Blood Donation. Now this feat of becoming a World Record Holder is a matter of proud for every Indian and perhaps every human being, which is rare but much required World Record and achievement and is inspiring many people to Donate Blood and Save Lives.
Jitender Singh Shunty emphasized the importance of Blood Donation in saving lives and said- “A blood donor is no less than God for people who need blood and that it is an opportunity to do something great in life by saving lives of people.” I feel blessed to have donated blood for 100 times. I am glad to be entitled as #DonorSingh and it is more of a responsibility rather than just a tag. I thank World Book of Records for inviting me to receive the World Record and also many thanks to National Blood Transfusion Council (Government of India) and Delhi State Blood Transfusion Council (Government of NCT of Delhi), for encouraging me with the Centurion Award. I would also like to state that our NGO has organized 146 Voluntary Blood Donation Camps till date, providing around 33,000 Units of Blood to Needy, till date and counting. Such Honors from Government and other bodies and people really work as motivation for me and our NGO. I pray to God to give me more strength to keep working for human race till my last breath. My sincere thanks to all the Chief Guests, Guests of Honour, my well-wishers and all the media fraternity, who came in huge numbers today to encourage me furthermore.”
Shaheed Bhagat Singh Sewa Dal (SBS FOUNDATION) is a social service organization which is actively involved in many social welfare activities such as free cremation for unclaimed and poor dead bodies, free hearse van, free 24 hrs ambulance Service, free blood donation and distribution of free tricycle for handicapped, disaster management, free recreational services for senior citizens, HIV awareness, youth Sports Club etc. This organization also has been an active member of Delhi disaster Management. During almost all the unfortunate mishaps, natural calamities & terrorist attacks in Delhi they provided all their helping hands to the victims. The NGO also spread its help in International calamities such as Nepal quakes. The NGO has been involved in various social works to serve society and humanity. Till date the NGO has carried app 42, 000 dead bodies for cremation & app. 45,000 patients free of any cost. The NGO has carried out app 15,000 Free of Cost Cremations for Needy and Poor. The NGO has collected and donated app. 33,000 units of blood free of any cost. The Founder President of the NGO Mr. Jitender Singh Shunty has even been awarded the Red & White Bravery award and the NGO has also won ‘Bhagidari’ awards for best NGO in Delhi, (Highest honour for an NGO) twice at the hands of Honorable Chief Minister of Delhi. The Founder Mr. Shunty has himself voluntarily donated blood for 100 times.
